Kevin Tam is a bit of a music historian, and certainly part music preservationist. His focus has largely been on forgotten or inaccessible pieces from 20th century American music. Long a student of music, his arranging technique and approach has been influenced by extensive study of the scores within the Ferde Grofe archives, as well as other Grofe contemporaries such as Dana Suesse, Johnny Green, Virgil Thomson, and the Paul Whiteman Archive. Recently he has been involved with preserving and engraving unpublished Sousa Manuscripts for the NAXOS classical CD recording project.
